Che’Tay was born as Jasmine Taylor in Bastrop, LA on December 9th 1992. As an infant she would to hum and by nine months she began humming melodies. It wasn’t long before family and friends saw the beginnings of a great artist. Continuing to display a love of music and song, Che’Tay, at the tender age of seven joined and became the lead singer on the church praise team. That was just the start of a life in the entertainment world. She insistently tapped into her other God given talents and by the age twelve, Che'Tay studied and graduated from Barbizon Modeling and Acting School where she was also awarded top model. She continued on to train under Joey Paul Jenson, CSA. Che’Tay also participated in the National American Miss Pageant and Fashion Rock's Talent Competition. Since then she stared in the movie "Down by the Bayou" where she played herself.
Che’Tay accredits her singing inspiration not only to Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Shania Twain but also to her family, life itself and the situations she goes through. At the age of thirteen Che’Tay was hit with a devastating blow of being unable to sing due to problems with her vocal cords and though it was almost a year before she was able to sing again, she refused to let it deter her from her true destination. Her strong belief in God along with the unconditional love and inspiration of her family, she was back on track and to her usual self – writing and singing her beautiful songs.
Che’Tay has graced many stages from Monroe LA to Crossett, AR. She opened for Dr. Norman Hutchins, comedian Lil JJ in and the group krossfyre in Lafayette LA. Che’tay has worked with producers B.U.G, Mike Lockett of Lockdouwne Records, Big Keys and T-Blakk of Untamed Records. She was once asked, “Who would you like to work with?” She cheerfully smiled and said, “I would absolutely love to work with Drake of Young Money Entertainment.”
Che’Tay not only sings but she composes her own music and brings her fresh, distinctive and fabulous style to the entertainment world as well as her fans worldwide. Her songs are expressive on what really matters and what makes people feel good. When asked, “What makes you so different?” She was quoted as saying, “My voice and my style of writing.” So expect great things from this unquestionably unique woman, Che’Tay.
