In 2003, songwriter and playwright E. Christine Anderson (Chris) won a GRAMMY IN THE STREETS contest (sponsored by the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences and BMI ) for her song “Their Leader” from "WAiT - it's a musical.” She studied theology at Wesley Theological Seminary, completed graduate level play and script writing classes at American University, and earned a graduate certificate in Arts Entrepreneurship from George Mason University. Chris played guitar in church bands in the Washington D.C. area for over a decade. She has been a consultant to start-up church bands of various denominations, a player/singer in secular bands and enjoys speaking at workshops.
She plays guitar, harmonica and dabbles in percussion with the acoustic trio "Ladies Done Waiting." She also hangs out frequently with the guys at the Barbershop, a.k.a. the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation. She is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) and is affiliated with BMI and Sound Exchange.
