Chris Gudu has been a significant part of the African music journey in Australia. Stan Goma describes Chris Gudu in the book World Music, Global Sounds in Australia as “one of a handful of truly great African bass players in Australia”. Three years after the release of his first solo hit album Chris Gudu returns with his latest inspiring and dynamic album, Imnandi, true to his Zimbabwean roots.
This album which contains the rhythmical spirit of Zimbabwe was recorded in Sydney, Australia and produced by the band lead guitarist Michael Coggins.
Chris Gudu has described the album as carrying a real message both lyrically and musically. The first tune “Mhuri Ye Zimbabwe” is a very powerful song which he wrote in acknowledging the beauty of his homeland and its hardworking people. Other songs in this album celebrate life in general, spirituality, humanity and harmony.
It is hard to resist the rhythms from Imnandi. Dancing to this album is an inescapable part of the experience.
