Aspiring to play his music to the world, Chris Monaghan is going after his dreams..one note at a time. "It all started when I was nine. I saw Tampa Bay musician Eddy Tooten on guitar while in Florida on vacation" said Chris. "At that point I knew guitar was my instrument. I had been taking piano lessons, but guitar was what I wanted." He began lessons shortly after returning home and within a few months formed a band with some grade school friends. Today the band is still intacted and plays local charity events throughout the year.
In May of 2011 Chris started playing solo acoustic shows because of his hunger to perform regularly. He has been averaging six shows a month that range from two to three hours in length. Chris's musical interest is not limited to one genre of music, but he currently favors pop/country/acuostic rock. When he comes acrossed a song he likes, no matter what the style, he will incorperate it into his set and make it his own.
Chris is always recieved with excitement. He was greatly complimented on his acoustic rendition of Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run when an onlooker at First Friday's in Havre de Grace, MD shared with Chris a story from his college days. The gentleman explained many years ago he saw Springsteen perform Born To Run in a park near his college dorm in Tennessee. He explained how Bruce was testing the songs out on the crowd. The man, full of enthusiasm, told Chris "The way you just played that song took me right back to that day!"
Chris has both feet planted firmly on the ground and is thankful for his gift of music. He gigs weekly in small venues, but 2012 brought larger events with attendance of 30,000 plus people. He continues to write and looks forward to having an EP released in 2013.
To date, Chris has recorded three original songs in Nashville with Producer Kim Copeland. He had the opportunity to work with not only Kim, who is a top Indie Producer, but also with "A list" session musicians who have worked with Vince Gill, Josh Turner, Dolly Parton, Sara Groves and Lady Atabellium to name a few.
Chris is shameless about living his dream!
