"Christie Grace has a sound that washes over you like sweet honey and fine wine. Every song is as beautiful to listen to as she is to look at…Christie Grace has it all! " ~ PAUL SHAFFER Music Director , David Letterman Show
With her two recordings, 2000’s Late Bloomer and 2007’s Contemplation, Christie Grace unveiled her chocolate honey alto voice and “straight –from-and –to-the-heart delivery” that charmed critics and fans alike. Her sultry, laid back swing performances on her jazz songs West Coast Girl and Be Yourself created an immediate appeal, of “pop sweetness and mellow guru jazz” which led to sold out concert appearances and a vocal scholarship with Interplay Jazz and Arts in Vermont, with NEA Jazz Master Sheila Jordan, John Proulx and Karrin Allyson in 2012. In 2010, she unplugged from her busy life and over the course of a month went on an amazing road trip through WA, Oregon along the old #1 Highway, to Esalen, in Big Sur CA for what became a profound healing circle. Full of misadventures and discovery, it became the catalyst for an EP (5 songs) & full-length album that is currently in pre-production. “It was the perfect combination to a radically new, inner viewpoint that embraced vulnerability as a strength, not a weakness. My experience totally changed the course of my musical commitment, as I realized I had been trying to please others through my music rather than please myself. Over the years, I’d written hundreds of songs I self- critiqued to death, songs that had deserved to be heard, but got stifled out of my old childish fears that sabotaged me. What a relief it was to finally let them go”! New songs which poured out for many months, called for a new musical sensibility and sensitivity. So Christie turned to pianist & arranger, Juno nominated, Chris Gestrin in his studio, Public Alley 421 in Coquitlam, BC. Over three tender years, they have co written her new album, Hopeless Romantic, and … an EP entitled, The Keeper. Hopeless Romantic’s spunky songs reflect a sassier, kind of funky, pop jazz attitude. The album is informed and cradled by her fundamental love of jazz, that honor’s her musical family’s legacy and is produced by Chris Gestrin. The artfully crafted music has a projected Spring 2014 release date. It will feature a duet with Canadian jazz singer, arranger & musician, Denzel Sinclaire. The songs simmer and caress with the rich, soothing vocals, that Christie has become known for. Her talented ensemble of Vancouver’s finest jazz musicians includes Chris Gestrin, Daryl Jahnke, James Danderfer, Joel Fountain and Andre Lachancé. For a dose of Vit D and preview of the album’s sound, Christie Grace 's new song, Luminescence is sure to please. The personal tale of finding her inner light as a child, Luminescence speaks to the universal inner muse within everyone.
