Chuck Cheesman is a singer/songwriter who performs original music for both adults and children. Chuck has released three recordings of all original music in a style inspired by the great songwriters of folk, pop/rock, and Americana music. His CDs have received national radio airplay on programs like The Midnight Special and favorable reviews from print media like Sing Out! magazine. His latest, IMAGINING DANCERS, was named favorite CD of 2011 by Mountain Living Magazine. In addition, Chuck performs and records witty, fun music — with an emphasis on good musicianship and songwriting — for children. His DANCING WITH NO SHOES ON CD (2012) showcases that side of his work.
In 2012, Chuck and his friend Robert Neustadt produced a compilation CD called Border Songs which is available on CDBABY. Well-known artists including Sweet Honey in the Rock, Michael Franti, and Pete Seeger contributed tracks to the project, and it has so far (August 2013) raised over $35,000 for the humanitarian organization No More Deaths/No Más Muertes. Chuck is currently producing a second compilation CD to benefit Flagstaff’s Whale Foundation, an organization that helps provide access to mental and physical health care professions for the Grand Canyon River Guiding Community.
Originally from Chicago where he taught at the Old Town School of Folk Music, Chuck spent most of the last decade in Northern Arizona. He now makes his home in Portland, Oregon.
