Cindy Egger

Biography

Cindy Egger has been performing professionally since she was in her teens back in Cedar Rapids, IA. She moved to Kansas City in 1987 to study under the tutelage of Douglas Niedt. She received a Master of Music degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and was given the Outstanding Student Award at the Master's level.

Cindy loves many styles of music, and that is reflected in her various performances. She has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, Starlight Theatre Orchestra, played in blues, country and dixieland bands, done numerous weddings and private parties, and played at several assisted living residences. She plays classical/fingerstyle guitar, electric guitar, electric bass, banjo, sings, and even drums once in a while.

Besides her various performances, Cindy teaches private guitar lessons at Rockhurst University (she joined the faculty in 1994) and The Toon Shop. She is also the guitarist/music director at St. Andrew Christian Church in Olathe, KS.

She has an earlier solo guitar CD called "Finger Pickin' Good" which can be ordered from her website: www.cindyegger.com. Her playing can also be found on "Intimate Dances" (Centaur Label), a compilation of works by composer Jerry Owen. A bit of her life is captured in a book about local Kansas City women, "A Power of Her Own" by Kathryn Sommer.

Her current CD, "Heart Strings" is primarily original music utilizing elements from the folk, classical, blues, and new age idioms.
