Kate and Chris love the books of Calef Brown. So, we set two of his books to music. Good music!
With this project we are testing the limits of what is and what is not 'kids music'. Can music just be 'good music', appropriate for human consumption at whatever age you happen to be this year? Can the music kid's dig be a little spooky, kooky or just plain funky...?
Kate rocks the bass, Chris the guitar and much more. We are both singers, songwriters, parents, life partners and happy to be alive and well in Minneapolis!
We plan to perform the material from Polkabats and Octopus Slacks-THE MUSIC! at a co-presentation with Calef Brown at the Walker Art Center here in Minneapolis in January 2010. We hope to book more museum shows with Calef as well as some library gigs, as we see this project as an awesome literary tool.
