Clock Strikes XII (CSXII) is a dynamic high-energy alternative metal band from the Northern VA/Washington DC area. The band was originally founded in 2009 and has been a local favorite since. The band’s show features anthem-style vocals, melodic guitar riffs, hard driving rhythms, and thunderous double-bass percussion. The band has just completed their EP "Gasping for Air" produced by Don Debiase (Studio D/Cleveland, OH) and video "Enter-In", which was directed by Sean Babas (Monster, BET, E!, MTV #1 Video - KDrew - "One"). CSXII is releasing the debut single from that album and video “Enter-In” on April 24, 2013. The album is scheduled for public release later this summer.
The band is comprised of Ryan Halsaver (Lead vocalist), Dusty Skyler (Lead Guitar/Unclean Vocals), Chris Peters (Bass), Alex O’Masta (Rhythm Guitar), Nate Garrison (Drums), and Sam Athanas (Keyboards). The band’s style and key influences are Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, Bullet For My Valentine, and Alexisonfire.
Writers Ryan Halsaver and Dusty Skyler used the inspiration of “We Rise from Darkness”, as the baseline musical and lyrical theme for all songs on the "Gasping for Air" album. The album is a series of songs that seduce the listener into entering a new uncertain world, to escape the horrors of reality. Everyone finds themselves, at some point, in a place of darkness that they struggle to escape from.
Little did the band know, when they wrote the album, that the theme would hit close to home. On the way to shoot the video in August of 2012, Dusty and the band's manager were in a terrible accident witnessed by the rest of band. At the accident site, two initial rescuers (our angels) promptly attended to our band members. One was an off duty EMT and the other a nurse. The nurse had just lost her own child in similar accident the year before and her ability to help Dusty and stabilize him for air transport allowed her to Rise from Darkness. His angel found her own piece, in her life saving work.
As the band regrouped, all members of the band found their way to rise above this situation and we returned to Nashville to shoot the video in January of 2013. The release of Enter In and its video are not only the Band's debut, but the bands Rise from Darkness.
Enter In is the debut single from that album that was picked by the band to best represent the total concept of the album and introduce the band outside of the Washington DC and Northern Virginia areas.
