BIOGRAPHY
Cognition is Modern Metal from Norway. The songs are hard hitting and in your face, yet with an adventurous, almost Progressive edge to them. There are Black Metal influences. In fact, you'd better just listen to a few songs and make up your mind about what Cognition sounds like!
The band started in Norway 2005. The same year, the first demo CD, "Alienation", was released and received some positive criticism in the underground music press, seeing Icon Music Mag make comparisons to Rob Zombie and Sepultura. Certainly not a common combination. The year after saw the release of the second demo, "Apocalyptic". This time, the press described the music as a mixture of Nine Inch Nails, Voivod and Venom. Cognition then moved to London and Cambridge in UK for a few years, while recording the debut album, "Omnipotent", which was released in 2010 and featured a bunch of guest performances by skilled musicians in the UK underground Metal scene. The press described the album as a mixture of Metal, Industrial and Goth. Cognition moved back to Norway, and 2012 saw the release of the EP, "Black Horizon", the most concentrated and hard hitting effort by Cognition to date. The journey continues!
