A pop/rock group born out of the suburbs of California, Colorfair is spearheaded by the duo Ryan & Lily Jones. The mellifluous couple banded together in 2012 after years of performing under the radar to create a project that was thoughtful and imaginative in nature while catchy and simplistic in execution. Much of their song content is derived from the heart of a decade long relationship together, as well as a creative appetite for fictional narrative.

The group’s first record, "Leviathan," released in September 2012 is a blatant show of the duo’s affection towards the sea, adventure and storytelling. Leviathan started as a children’s book idea that came to the young married couple while they were living in Sacramento, Ca in 2011. The thought of sharing their story by story tale challenged and motivated their creativity; so idea’s went to paper and from paper to song. After a trip to a very special studio with lyrics in hand and melody on their minds, an abstract record was born and a story of a young girls run away and chance encounter with a magical sea-creature was sung. Ryan and Lily’s fixation and love for all things “ocean” can be heard and felt interwoven throughout “Leviathan” from it’s whimsical beginning to it’s soft, heartfelt and dreamlike close.

After their early fall debut of "Leviathan," the band relocated to Santa Cruz, Ca and soon, the cold seasons came. Lovers of the winter and the festive stories it carries, Ryan and Lily jumped at the opportunity to get in the studio again and track a holiday inspired record. Colorfair’s “Christmas” EP was hurriedly recorded in three days under a rain barraged roof of their producer’s home in Auburn, Ca late fall of November 2012 and was released less then a month later in December 2012. Amidst those three studio days the couple wrestled with four arrangements of famous Christmas songs and wrote a winter inspired love song, “Fierce,” that diverged from the fuller sound of “Leviathan” into an acoustic singer/songwriter style. After completion, Colorfair's finished holiday album was nothing less then magically minimalistic and refreshing in it's take on some historical holiday classics.
