Company B Jazz Band, a Vancouver-based 6-piece group in the style of the Andrews and Boswell Sisters, rouses crowds for dancing and smiles with their cheerful renditions of classic repertoire from the 1920s through 1940s (with a little bit of the '10s and '50s in there too!). Loaded with personality, the harmonies of the female vocal trio are well-complemented by top-notch instrumentalists. The band makes it their mission to capture the style and the spirit of the music of the first half of the 20th century, but there is also an undeniable youth and freshness to their sound and their stage presence.
Since the band's inception in 2007, Company B Jazz Band has been featured at music venues and festivals all over British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, and California. At the request of the 2009 Pender Harbour Jazz Festival, the group's members arranged two hours' worth of their music for a big band, which was a smash hit at the festival. Company B has delighted audiences in many of the premier venues in the Vancouver area, including the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, the Vancouver East Cultural Centre, the Vancouver Club and West Vancouver's Silk Purse, and they have become a popular act in their thriving local swing dancing community. Company B has twice been featured on CBC Radio Two's Canada Live series, seen on CBC Television and on CFJC's Midday Show (Kamloops, BC), and they have been featured guests several times on CiTR's Sweet and Hot radio program. Their self-titled debut CD (Company B Jazz Band) has received rave reviews from people all over Canada and the US, and their much-anticipated second release (Rock & Roll) is now available online and in stores.
