ConChussOne embarked on this life journey on October 30, 1956 in Houston, Texas. My early years were spent doing what most young people do, especially boys. I developed a love for sports. As a product of the turbulent 1960's music became an integral part of my life. It brought to my thought processes a desire to become aware of my surroundings as well as my history and culture. I received my education in HISD schools and upon graduation from high school attended Texas Southern University and the University of Houston. My love and attraction to music grew by leaps and bounds as new and exciting musical concepts burst forth on the scene. Motown Records and Stax Records hit the ground running in the late 1950's. Artists such as Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder and Isaac Hayes were paramount among my earliest musical influences. At this point I must interject this bit of insight into my life story. Even though I had a great love for music and its icons I never expected to ever produce any type of music! If I did not mention Earth, Wind and Fire in anything concerning my musical tastes it would be a total travesty! EWF will forever be one of the greatest groups ever assembled. They are a testament to the power and force of the Universe! Later in life I got my introduction to music in the church where I sang with a male chorus and later with a praise team and choir. Some of my latter day musical influences are Jill Scott, Erykah Badu (Hotep, my sister) and many artists too numerous to mention. Contemporary jazz has always been an amazing mode of inspiration for me with artists such as Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Joe Sample and David Sanborn among my favorites. Oh, I can't forget Kirk Whalum! In memorium I honor the late George Howard and Wayman Tisdale for their contributions to my journey. Last but certainly not least I thank the Universe for the life and influence of Ray Charles who demonstrated that no impairment can stop greatness. Music is a part of my life.
