Formed in July, 2008, Cover of Afternoon began writing songs together in early August. Starting as a rocking trio, the group has played numerous shows, including shows with major acts like There for Tomorrow and Morning Parade.
The drummer had to leave, leaving Allen and Alex to go forth as an acoustic group while looking for a new drummer and second guitarist... as an acoustic duo using the same moniker Cover of Afternoon, Alex and Allen made it to the finals of the New Brookland Tavern Acoustic Rock Challenge, and qualified to perform at the Ale House Battle of the Bands.
NOW, after years of searching, Reid Mewborne completes the group. Continuing their evolution, CoA developed a heavier, and darker sound with the introduction of heavy guitars, piano, and other instruments. Semi-Finalists in the Local's Live, Finalists in the 2012 SpringOut and 2012 FallOut contests and with a single on Rock 93.5 called Harlot, Cover of Afternoon will continue to grow.
"Cover of Afternoon excels at combining the thrashing and atmospheric with tightly wound, emotionally wrought vocals that leave everything out in the open. This is a band that strives for the personal to be at the center of their songs and persona, so that the songs openly bleed hurt, pain and longing."
