At age 26, Ietef Hotep Vita is DJ C.A.V.E.M. (Communicating Awareness Victoriously Educating the Masses) Moetavation, an internationally known HipHop artist, writer/producer, deejay, HipHop Yogi, Afro-Latin percussionist, father, midwife, and environmental and youth advocate. He is a recording activist whose sixth album marries eco-consciousness and true HIP HOP - Higher Inner Peace, Helping Other People, it is entitled “The Produce Section - The Harvest”, it is a Hip Hop curriculum and releases September 29, 2012.
About Ietef “DJ CAVEM MOETAVATION” Vita
DJ Cavem Moetavation is more than a deejay, this Denver, Colorado native, hails from the historic Five Points and has been a long time community activist due to an early awareness of inequity in his neighborhood. At age 26, Ietef Hotep Vita is DJ C.A.V.E.M. (Communicating Awareness Victoriously Educating the Masses) Moetavation, an internationally known HipHop artist, writer/producer, deejay, HipHop Yogi, Afro-Latin percussionist, producer, father, midwife, and environmental and youth advocate. He is an Eco-Cultivator/Educator, sharing his knowledge with various age groups in organic gardening, veganism, wholistic health, sustainability, conscious consumption, and HipHop culture with Denver’s Blue and Yellow Logic, The GrowHaus, Youthbiz and Detroit-based non-profit Urban Farming. As a result of his work in community and his workshop series entitled “Going Green, Living Bling: Redefining the Image of Wealth”, he was awarded a Green For All Fellowship in 2010 and a Bold Leaders Bold Food Fellowship in 2012 which awarded him the opportunity to travel to Kempala, Uganda for an educational exchange around Food Justice and Agriculture. Ietef “DJ CAVEM” Vita is an “O.G.” - Organic Gardener. He has built and maintained urban gardens in food deserts across the city in which he engages the community; teaching them how to grow food, build compost, and harvest. Ietef has also been the coordinator for several panels around this work for the Denver Green Festival 2009, the Biennial of the Americas 2010, the San Francisco Green Festival 2011, and PowerShift in Washington, DC 2011. Vita is the founder of the Brown Suga Youth Festival, an annual event that brings together wholistic healers, educators, artists and young people for presentations, discussions and networking. As DJ CAVEM MOETAVATION he has performed in Burkina Faso, West Africa, Paris, London, and Amsterdam as well as the 2011 NYC Green Festival, and Oakland, CA Life is Living Festival. He is a recording activist and has worked with several major artists such as Digable Planets, Dead Prez, Speech of Arrested Development, Rebel Diaz and KRS-ONE and has shared the stage with Musiq Soulchild, Les Nubians, and Gil Scott Heron to name a few. He made history in 2011when the Denver Public School Elementary Honors Choir sang their first Hip Hop song at their annual recital; his single “Wheat Grass” from his fourth album "The Teacher's Lounge" which released July 2010. This single, speaks on youth and sustainability and placed him second in Green For All’s, 2010 Dream Reborn art contest. Straight out the garden, Ietef “DJ CAVEM” Vita is “teachin’ HIP HOP history and how to grow greens” and not the ones you roll. His latest project marries eco-consciousness and true HIP HOP - Higher Inner Peace, Helping Other People.
