Songwriter, composer, producer, and vocalist are only a few of the many titles that can be used to introduce the Michigan bred consummate musician, DJ Fatha Julz. His experiences as a classically trained pianist and a seasoned church musician have allowed him to cultivate his own brand of music. Deriving his inspiration from the traditional black church hymns and spirituals with the deep soul of old school house, his sound is best described as “futuristic renaissance house”. A musical non-conformist, DJ Fatha Julz considers his music “purposely light and feel good music. I intentionally try to blend the vocals to be a part of the instrumentation. I am a composer first and a producer second.”
While pursuing his dental degree, DJ Fatha Julz taught himself how to compose and create music; completing his first recording in 2003. After moving to Philadelphia in 2006, he realized that the music that he created for his inner circle of friends began to go viral. Once he began gaining recognition from DJs and others, he decided to share his sound with the world. He released this first album Dreambeats on iTunes that same year. Since his debut album, he has released two additional projects (Audio Ball – 2007 & The Return of Synergy - 2009). After a nearly five year hiatus, DJ Fatha Julz is preparing for the release of his fourth album, New World; due for release on May 20, 2014.
His music credits include producing a portion of the dance remix for Jennifer Lopez's 2013 Billboard Awards performance, writing and producing two hit tracks for entertainment blogger B. Scott, collaborating with Kim Burse (creative director for Beyoncé/Queen Latifah/Jennifer Lopez) on the score of the internationally released movie "Leave it on the Floor", producing songs on Tina McDowelle's (Vanderpump Rules) album “I Am” and more.
