It is borderline blasphemy not to mention elite Hip-Hop lyricist and Daddy Pops in the same breath. A versatile New York emcee, he captivates audiences with his freestyles, whether studio recordings or live performances. Pops is the polar opposite of the modern day rapper, but he is the evolution of the 90’s hip-hop emcee.
Pops began embracing hip-hop in high school as a freestyle battle emcee. Artists like Nas, Eminem, and Mos Def were some of his favorite musical influences. While still a teenager, Pops made a drastic life change and joined the U.S. Army. He rapidly moved up the ranks to become a sergeant, but that did not stop his love for creating music.
Upon returning to civilian life, Daddy Pops teamed up with his original team, “Most Official”, to begin working on the Most Official mixtape series. He then released his critically acclaimed first solo mixtape “ Extreme Takeover”. Pops is set to release his debut solo album, appropriately titled, “Above The Influence”.
In his brief time on the Nashville music scene, Pops has performed at award shows, featured on several national and local mixtapes, has articles in national and local magazines, and receives airplay on Internet radio stations across the country. Currently a member of “The Team”, Pops is on tour with the group Evolution performing at venues in Indiana, Nashville, Smyrna, and Chattanooga. With show dates coming up in cities like Atlanta, Philly, and New York, Daddy Pops is steadily gaining momentum for his freshman release.
Daddy Pops maintains an active role in the lives of his wife and two daughters, while placing his heart and soul into every bar, every verse, and every song he is blessed to be a part of. He envisions a music industry that focuses on the talent of the artist and promotes creativity as well as individualism. He is in search of like-minded artists to collaborate with to bring forth a movement of substance without sacrificing integrity. Daddy Pops isn’t here to change the game he is just here to upgrade it.
