He has been called “The Minister of Jazz” by radio announcers and music lovers. Da’rrell Ravenell holds the awesome position as Minister of Music at the mega church, Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, in Charleston, SC. where he oversees an ever-expanding worship and arts department. Even though he has traveled extensively in the United States and completed several European tours, His fervent desire to share the gospel through music keeps him grounded and committed to his anointed ministry.
His humble beginning playing piano as a young man was at a small church, Promiseland Missionary Baptist Church, where he learned the value of servitude. His strength to succeed in music ministry came from his father who served as the chairmen of the deacon board and his mother who served as the usher board president. They taught him the value of loyalty, strength, humility, and unconditional love. He continues to share those values with the world those through his music and his love for his Savior.
Da’rrell has shared the stage with great jazz artists like; Norman Brown, Alex Bugnon, Gerald Albright, Najee, Al Jarreau, David Sandborn, Marcus Johnson, Angela Christie and Ben Tankard. He has also had the privilege of accompanying gospel greats such as; Marvin Sapp, Isaac Carree, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Vicky Yohe, Mary Alessi, Canton Jones, Beverly Crawford, and Regina Bell. The latest single “Selah” is enthusiastically developed and encourages the listener to pause and listen to the smooth sounds of life.
