BIOGRAPHY
Darrell Sallee began playing guitar in 1964, and started playing professionally three years later. He started playing professionally three years later. He played with several bands early in his career, including The Rhythm Rascals and The Cavaliers. Later, he played with The Albert Taylor Group and The Beaumonts. While living in Louisiana, he performed with The Darrellicks. He has appeared with bassist Tim Halsey and guitarist Gregg Clark frequently in the past. Since 1974, Darrell has become widely known as a solo acoustic singer/songwriter with a wide and varied repertoire.Darrell has been chosen as the opening act for several well-known artists, including Livingston Taylor, Greg Allman, and Stephen Stills.
His latest CD, "New Sunshine", was released in June, 2012. It is his fifth release, following "This Town's Tuff" (1991), "Live From Fred's World" (as a member of The Darrellicks, 1998), "Favorite Parlor Songs" (with Steve Dougay, 2002), and "The Best Years" (2002).
"New Sunshine" is a collection of nine original songs. In this CD, Darrell's instrumental and vocal talents are featured in an eclectic collection of Americana and Rock music. It has been praised for its fresh chord changes, interesting harmonies, and evocative lyrics.
