Dave Bankhead

Dave is an established worship leader in the UK; a songwriter and also a record producer. He was formerly a part of the Christian band 'Heartbeat' and co-wrote a number of worship songs at that time that have been widely sung since in many countries: 'Come on and celebrate', 'Lord, we long for You (Heal our nation)', 'Behold the Lamb' and 'I will speak out'. In 1995, Dave and his wife Jean began the reconciliation ministry 'We are One!' a Christian reconciliation ministry dedicated to promoting peace and healing in divided nations and cultures across the world. Since 1999 Dave has travelled to Africa many times and produced three worship and reconciliation CD's in Rwanda working with talented young christians from that land, drawn from both main tribes and a cross section of church denominations. Several of these songs, themed around forgiveness and hope for the future and written by Rwandan musicians, have since become well known in that nation. Dave also produced a childrens worship CD called 'Heal Africa!' in 2004, which contains songs written by Rwandan songwriters especially for the genocide generation of children that were born during and grew up in Rwanda since 1994. These songs were subsequently translated into english and were sung by a South African childrens choir for the CD. Popular songs from this CD that have been exciting and encouraging for junior aged children in many african countries to sing, would be 'Heal Africa!' (an upbeat song where children shout the names of countries out loud in the middle!), 'We have a hero' and 'I shall live!'

Dave continues to work in Rwanda, South Africa, in Zimbabwe doing childrens ministry and now in 2013 most recently in Israel/Palestine. Key songs from this later period are the rock anthem 'Holy, holy' and 'Peace to you', a song of blessing to the nations which appears on his album 'Saviour of Nations'
