Dave Glasser appears on 25 CD’s including 4 as a leader, 5 with Clark Terry, 3 with the Count Basie Orchestra, and 2 with Earl May. His newest CD will be released Feb 2010 and another will be released in 2011. He is currently active as a band leader and guest artist in the US and abroad.
As a sideman Dave Glasser was a member of the Clark Terry quintet from 1995 to 2006. He has also worked with the Earl May quartet, Don Friedman quartet, and the Bob Mintzer big band. From 1991-95 he was lead altoist with the Illinois Jacquet big band and from 1988-91 he was with the Count Basie Orchestra under direction of Frank Foster. Over the past two decades he has also worked alongside Barry Harris, “Sweets” Edison, Sarah Vaughn, Billy Eckstine, Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, Jimmy Heath, Percy Heath, Slide Hampton, Roland Hanna, Sam Rivers, Eddie Locke, Joe Williams, Nancy Wilson, Stanley Turrentine Jon Faddis, Buddy DeFranco, Benny Green, George Benson, Monty Alexander, John Bunch, and many others.
As an instructor, Mr. Glasser has been at the New School Jazz program since 1996 teaching Bebop Harmony, Charlie Parker Ensemble, and private Saxophone study. He was a faculty member of the Clark Terry International Institute of Jazz Studies in Le Mars, Iowa from 1995 - 97, has served as a clinician at numerous universities and high schools around the world.
Born and raised in New York City, Dave Glasser is a graduate of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and the Arts. He holds a BM in Classical Saxophone and a MM in Jazz Performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and has received extensive instruction from Barry Harris. He was also a student of Lee Konitz from age 15-20.
