Recording artist Dave Nicar is an artist with a "world view," often taking his music outside the realm of what others might consider "normal"- into his community. He is committed to letting people know that there is hope, and healing in all kinds of music. Dave plays regularly in every place that he can. House concerts, parks, festivals, coffee shops, churches, clubs, and bars.
Dave often describes his music as "Thunder Music", and with his powerful, soulful vocals, it’s easy to see why. Dave has an incredible voice – its an instrument not only of passion and power, but also of sensitivity and artistry, often combining sensitive, expressive lyrics combined with a big sound whose goal is to “to strengthen the weak and heal the brokenhearted.”
Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Dave fell in love at a young age, with the music of Elvis Presley, when his father, who went to high school with Elvis, brought home Elvis records from the Radio/TV station where he worked. Dave also became familiar with many of the Southern Gospel quartets that came through town on a regular basis, but he began cutting his musical teeth on the music of the superstars of the R&B era: Elvis, Al Green, Isaac Hayes, and Michael McDonald.
As an artist, Dave has worked and performed with many Grammy and Dove award-winning artists including Third Day, Petra, Bruce Carroll, DeGarmo and key, White Heart, Steve Wiggins and Big Tent Revival, as well as members of the band Skillet. Dave has also worked recently with award-winning blues man, Danny Brooks.
He has also opened for Geffen Recording artist, Matt White in Memphis, and has been a featured Artist on the Sirius Satellite radio “Elvis” channel with Tripp Hurst hosting.
Dave's latest CD, Castaway, was released in 2008 to rave reviews, with the title track being picked up by several southern US radio stations, and one single, "Ain't It Funny" receiving some light airplay in a few Canadian radio stations. Dave continues to write and perform regularly. For more videos, please see Youtube.com/dnicar.
