David’s songwriting career began at the age of 16. He has composed over 1000 songs across many musical genres, having had several international radio releases as a singer songwriter (“Legend in the World (Jesse James)”; “Take Me Home”; “I’m Rolling in it”). David is a 3-time finalist award recipient with the U.K. Songwriting Award (some past producers have included Simon Cowell and Paul McCartney) in 2009 and 2011 (“Amy”; “Never Walk Away”; “Special World”).
When he's not songwriting or working on albums, David is busy tending to patients and advancing medical science. David is a cardiologist and research scientist at the University of Toronto. In 2010, David founded Vigour Projects, an organization dedicated to applying, evaluating and promoting the benefits of music on health and medical outcomes. Vigour Projects (www.vigourprojects.com) is currently leading a number of cutting-edge research initiatives, which include the use of music, sound and technology to improve exercise motivation, endurance, and fitness (through a research grant received from the Ontario Centers of Excellence) (www.soulcanwellness.com). Other past and present initiatives includes adaptations of music-based technologies that allow individuals with disabilities to create and perform their own music as well as the use of music compositions to promote health messaging to communities.
