David Barnes

David Barnes is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist with 25 years experience and an extensive catalog of recorded works. His current music is entirely instrumental and falls somewhere between the psychedelic rock of early Pink Floyd and the ambience of Brian Eno, but with many layers of acoustic folk instruments interwoven with the electronics, giving it a fresh and unique sound. His scores have been used by film producers, modern dance companies, theater troupes and educational media.

Barnes is a recipient of grants from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Pew Charitable Trust, Meet The Composer and 2 Fellowships from the MacDowell Artist Colony. His compositions have been featured at The Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors festival (NYC), the Kennedy Center (Washington), Jacobs Pillow (Tanglewood), MTI (Phila), The Painted Bride (Phila), The American Composers Forum Sonic Circuits Festival, The Worcester New Music Festival, Mobius (Boston) and many other venues in Boston and Philadelphia.

In the early 90's Barnes was probably best known as the front man/ founding member of the Philadelphia rock band Puncture Project. He was also the driving force behind several experimental groups including Bastard Finders, The Echo Chamber Ensemble, Minus 103, and The Experimental Percussion Ensemble. Barnes' recent albums can be purchased at Amazon and iTunes, and can be heard on, and several college radio stations around the country.
