Davide Pannozzo

Biography

Davide Pannozzo was born in Formia, Italy, in 1983. He inherited his parents’ passion for the blues and was raised on Jimi Hendrix. He began classic guitar studies at the young age of six, showing a natural talent for music. Early influences included Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters, but also Scott Henderson, Mike Stern, Cannonball Adderley and Miles Davis.

Steady progress led him eventually to the biggest Italian blues festivals: Pistoia, Liri, Vicenza and Torrita, sharing bills with such greats as Magic Slim, Reggie Wayne Morris Band and Willie Kent.

In 2003, Davide began teaching rock and blues guitar at Rome’s Ritmix music school.

Since October 2005 he’s been a part of the jazz-blues-funk group Matino-Pannozzo-Iodice Trio, with Markbass endorser Pippo Matino on bass, and drummer Peter Iodice. From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of Almost Blue’s Band” and played on their 2003 CD “Down From the Roots” and their 2006 CD, “Soul & Notes.” Tracks from “Down From the Roots” were included on the soundtrack of the short film “Notte Bianca” by director Francesco Apolloni.

In May 2007, Davide was a finalist of one of the most important acoustic guitar festivals in Europe, Emergency Acoustic Festival. Going on to compete against 11 finalists from all the European capitals, Davide emerged as the overall winner.

The new Davide Pannozzo & Loud Stuff trio includes Claudio Romano on drums and Markbass artist Lello Somma on bass. The group’s music includes original songs, as well as innovative versions of blues, blues-rock and jazz standards.

The “Davide Pannozzo Acoustic Solo Project” sees Davide perform his own jazz and blues compositions completely on acoustic guitar, accompanied only by his voice and loopstation pedal, which allows him to create harmonies and loops in real time, improvising over them in his own unique style.

In May 2008 he was invited to attend at the International Festival of Jazz of Bucharest (Romania) and in August, with his Acoustic Single Project, he flew to Rothenburg, Germany to play at the Taubertal Open Air Festival. In October, 2008 he performed at the Bass Player Live event in Los Angeles with Pippo Matino and Danny Gottlieb (Pat Metheney, John Scofield, Mike Stern etc.).

In September 2009, Davide joined the M° Pippo Caruso orchestra on the RAI 1 TV show “Domenica In”, conducted by Pippo Baudo. As a member of this band, he has performed with such artists as George Benson, David Garfield, Alex Britti, Carmen Consoli, Fiorella Mannoia, Sergio Cammariere.

He has worked also with great conductor as Luis Bacalov, Nicola Piovani, Franco Piersanti in studio sessions and in live concert with their orchestra.
