"Strange Waves," is the latest addition to Dead Heart Bloom's growing musical repertoire, self-recorded in the band's Brooklyn studio and released in 2010: "shoe-gazey moods and British Invasion hooks serving as hopeful back-drops to narratives of battered hearts and souls in peril".
Boris Skalsky formed Dead Heart Bloom after the break up of his previous D.C. newgaze band Phaser. He grabbed his instruments and 2-inch tape machine, relocated to New York, and self recorded and released 2 records in as many years, the self-titled debut and Chelsea Diaries.
In 2008, guitarist Paul Wood (also ex-Phaser) re-connected with Boris and the two began writing and recording a 3 EP series which were released through 2008 and 2009. Each EP in the series explored different elements that had been touched on in previous Dead Heart Bloom releases: Fall In (dream pop); Oh Mercy (grit rock); and In Chains (ambient folk).
Dead Heart Bloom continues to write and record in New York. Their latest, Strange Waves, is available on CD, LP and digital download formats.
