Through the '80's Derek Blevins was a nationally recognized, grammy nominated rock drummer with the Boston based Jon Butcher Axis. He had a spiritual awakening in the midst this success, which moved him toward Christian faith and away from rock music to the extent that he left the band in 1987 after recording, Wishes, the band's fourth LP on Capitol Records. Entering a five year quiet period never knowing if God would ever call him back to music, his patience paid off when the call came to lead the very first contemporary music team at historic Park Street Church in Boston. That endeavor was an instant success with the church service regularly maxing out room capacity at 400-500 students. He has been a worship leader/songwriter ever since. Worship songwriting is his primary passion. Most recently Derek has garnered three SongDISCovery features with 'He Is The King', 'Come And Let Us Sing' and most recently 'You Are My God'. Most of his recordings feature other singers and musicians by virtue of all the incredible talent that is available in the Church these days. He will tell you plainly "It's all about the song, not about me trying to be an artist again."
