Deron Vinson

DeRon Vinson is the youngest of nine children born to Joe and Martha Vinson in Chesapeake, Virginia. At an early age DeRon was watching one of his favorite t.v. shows The Muppet Show when he saw the Muppet “Zoot” playing the saxophone. As a result, he developed an interest in playing the saxophone. At the age of 11 he started playing the saxophone in his school band. He started playing at his childhood church at the tender age of 12. As he continued to play, God’s anointing fell on his life and DeRon’s love of gospel music was birthed.

Whether blowing a tenderly passionate soprano sax or edging into a more aggressive stance with his brilliant technique on tenor sax. DeRon is an anointed saxophonist, and one of the most humble saxophone players on today’s instrumental scene. When given accolades for his playing he will always humbly state, “its not me, but the anointing that God has given me”.

In his years of serving God through music, DeRon has played and shared the stage with several renown local and national artists, such as Amos Davis’ Angelic Choraleers, Earl Bynum, Clinton “CD” Porter, Richard Davis and Spirit and Truth, Douglas Miller, Israel Houghton, Rance Allen, Marcus Cole, Javen, Vicki Yohe, Ernest Pugh, Steven Hurd, Joe Pace, Bruce Parham, JoAnn Rosario, Vicki Winans, Darwin Hobbs, Rita Twiggs, Jesse Campbell, Donnie McClurkin, John P. Kee, Judy Jacobs and the late James Moore. DeRon also appeared on the nationally televised TBN Gospel Talent Show “Exalting Him” as a member of the gospel group Promise.

DeRon wants his music to be uplifting and encouraging to his listeners. It’s nothing like worshipping with the sounds of gospel jazz to usher in the presence of God. That is the goal of his ministry, to bless someone who needs a little more to get them through whatever they are going through.
