Home in This Direction is Raser's first full-length studio release since 2005, when the Derren Raser Band worked with artist/producer Greg Laswell to release King of I'll Tell You Next Week. Raser's first solo effort marks a distinct step forward in his songwriting maturity. Described by critics as "Simon & Garfunkel meets the Shins," Raser seamlessly blends the sounds of mainstream rock and pop with the more subtle mediums of art song and folk story telling.
“Fill Me Up,” from the album has already been nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award, and “Warn the World,” a new version of which is included on the album, recently won a Hollywood Music Award for “Best Male Vocals.”
