Greatness is mostly found in the nuanced. Truth can be heard in a still small voice. And the melodies that move us most often hide in the ghost notes just outside where the usual is suitable.
Donald “DertBeats” Baker is what you would call a ghost note. A musical monolith who’s mostly gone unnoticed, a street level icon hiding in plain view. Dert’s music evokes emotion, a view of the ocean while never loosing sight of the concrete just passed the palm trees.
He finds space in-between kicks and snares and explores whole universes. One could make the case that Dert is the most slept on producer in Los Angeles, or America for that matter, but he’ll have none of that.
Dert is blue collar, holding his art to the fire and discarding it ruthlessly if it doesn’t produced gems. Waxing poetic is not his thing so I’ll end it like this; if your speakers need testing, or your heart needs a jump, pop Dert into whatever method of playback you prefer and test it yourself.
