Devine Lie were formed in 2004 and split their time mainly between Barbados and Cape Town. The main writer and musician is Nigel Nicholls.
Melding a fusion of styles to create some interesting Alternative Rock, their music has matured during the course of their five CD Releases.
Their first CD was Devine Lies in 2006, with stand out tracks Devine Lies and Dromoland featuring heavily.
Their second CD, Skin is all Sin, released in 2007, hinted at a slight change of direction, with the powerful tracks Hope in Suicide and Shadow Aspect dominating.
Their third CD released in early 2009, was Politicians aren’t the People I meet. This CD showed yet another slight change in their emerging style.
A Place in this World, released at the end of 2009, was a showcase CD for the vocal talents of David Treanor. Devine Lie had a new guest singer and a new direction for this melodic rock album. Guitars, synths and keyboards featured heavily in this very accessible album featuring songs for today about relationships, dreams and love.
2011 saw David Treanor join Devine Lie on a full time basis and towards the end of the year the first fruits of the full time collaboration saw the release of My Blood Runs cold.
In My Blood Runs Cold, Devine Lie explores themes both classic and contemporary, from timeless dreams, desires, and sentiments to more socially current and relevant issues that manifest themselves all too frequently in today’s troubled world.
