Arizona based Digital Summer doesn't hold back with their powerful track "Suffocate" Fans of Trapt, Sevendust and Chevelle need look no further for the next rock gods on the radio! Suffocate is currently in rotation on 100hitz.com and Gotradio.com's Rock channels.
Digital Summer is an unmistakable modern rock band originating from Phoenix, Arizona. Made up of heavy/melodic guitars and raw emotional vocals, Digital Summer creates an edgy, yet soothing tone for a radio friendly world. Though influenced by multiple music genres, Digital Summer is a rock band to the core, not a “trend” by any means. With a completely different perspective on what a rock band “should be”, Digital Summer proves to keep making an impressive impact on the music scene with their professional songwriting ability, aggressively entertaining live show and seemingly endless promotional antics.
Digital Summer has had 4 singles in rotational play on major market radio (SiriusXM Octane 20, 98Kupd AZ, Rock1061 GA, Banana1015 MI…just to name a few), “Whatever it takes”, "Disconnect”, “Just Run” and “Hostage” have been among the top requested songs on each station. “Just Run” was #1 in rotation per research on 98Kupd for over seven weeks straight. "Forget You", the first single off their upcoming album Breaking Point is due to hit radio July 2012.
Aside from sharing the stage with bands like Alice in Chains, Godsmack, Deftones, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Theory of a Dead Man and many more, Digital Summer has also toured nationally with Sevendust, Drowning Pool, 10 Years and Saliva. While touring, they consistently receive an overwhelming response and even out sell the headliner in merchandise quite frequently. With a live show that includes throwing guitars across the stage and diving into the crowd, the band is quoted often as saying “Fans should get their money’s worth. If you’re not willing to bleed on stage, you shouldn’t be there.”
Digital Summer has been offered several record deals along the way and thus far has not signed. They’ve had multiple marking deals including a deal with Myspace Records when it was still around. The band also had a contract with Indegoot/McGathy management (2010-2011) but has since decided to part ways. Most of Digital Summer’s success has been while operating as they’re own label Victim Entertainment. With a business sense not usually seen in most artists, Digital Summer isn’t looking to play rockstar for a while and just burn out. They’re armed with the tools to survive in a broken industry and they intend to carve their own path in this new era of music.
Digital Summer is not your “typical” rock band by a long shot. Along with being professional musicians, these guys come from a hardworking background that includes careers most musicians couldn’t even attempt. Front man Kyle Winterstein is a professional Firefighter/Paramedic/Technical Rescue Specialist. His brother and guitarist, Ian Winterstein (Sponsored by Shecter) is also a Paramedic. Bassist Anthony “Guido” Hernandez (Sponsored by Spector) is finishing his business degree in marketing. Guitarist Jon “Bubba” Stephenson hails from Lafayette, LA with an accounting degree. Ben Anderson on drums is a studio engineer/drum instructor and is currently sponsored by Pearl and Vic Firth.
“The fans are what keep this machine going” says frontman Kyle Winterstein on several interviews. Such words were proven to be even more truthful in March of 2012 when the band launched a Kickstarter campaign after a request from a fan. The idea was simple, offer the fans a chance to make donations toward the release of their new album and in turn they receive unique incentives for doing so. Fans came out of the woodwork to be part of the Digital Summer movement. The campaign raised roughly $50,000 in 30 days and many fans were given opportunities to meet the band, get listed on album credits and even enjoy private performances.
Digital Summer’s upcoming album, Breaking Point, is the cultivation of efforts between a band that’s tasted several sides of the music industry and a loyal fan base just looking to be part of the journey. Recorded at Vudu Studios in New York with Mike Watts (Adelita’s Way, Theory of A Deadman, 10 Years, Dear Hunter), Breaking Point features a sample of all the musical talents the band possesses. Heavy hitting rock tracks to keep crowds moving and heads banging, along with melodic musical pieces that include everything from piano and strings to beat production. Clint Lowery of Sevendust even makes a guest appearance playing lead guitar on the album’s first single “Forget You”. Breaking Point is currently scheduled to be released August 7th 2012.
