Distinct Grace formed after two best friends got together for their love of music and wanting to give back to our troops. We are a band centered around making music and donating time and money to Veterans organizations. Chuck and Jeff met in 2005 during training when they were still both Active Duty U.S. Air Force. The two remained friends and over the years sang and played guitar together often. Distinct Grace came as an idea from Chuck and Jeff during their annual trip to see the Dropkick Murphy's. During this trip, Jeff and Chuck wrote the song "Giving you a Wake" and decided to form a group to produce their music and promote support for the U.S. Military. A big part of both of their lives, both as Veterans and as sons of Veterans. Chuck's father, Charles, served in the Army and Jeff's father, brother, uncles, aunts, grandmother, grandfathers, and cousins have served our nation in every service over the course of the past 65 years. Chuck and Jeff wanted a way to express their music and record it for others to enjoy. The title track of an upcoming album is Giving You a Wake. A song that was written describing a cross between rock, country, bluegrass and Celtic punk. The song, as you listen to the lyrics, describes the likes of a traditional blue collar man struggling to make ends meet, only to find out his beloved wife has been with another man. Most of the music, lyrically speaking, takes influence from older country artist such as Hank Williams and Merle Haggard, but also from artists such as the Lumineers, Dropkick Murphy's, and Old Man Markley. You will also here some influences from traditional rock groups such as 3 Doors Down and CCR. Yeah, we know, we are pretty all over the map. But the love of a music for a true artist has now boundaries and Distinct Grace will certainly not limit themselves to one genre or another.
Their latest song "The Green Green Glass" was recently released in Dec 2013. The songs parallels the struggles military members face with alcohol abuse when they return from war zones and battle PTSD. The Green Green Glass is the actual glass of liquor most often looked through when the depressed and deprived have hit rock bottom with no where else to turn but the drink. Another new song, "Who Cares" describes the male perspective of feeling the pain and hurt of being cheated on by the woman he loves (often a result of numerous military deployments) and how they rise above that.
