Biography

The Don Ray Band, formed in 2009, is a AAA Rock - N - Southern Country Soul band created by world class songwriters and studio / touring musicians based in Nashville, TN. Hall Of Fame Guitarist, Will McFarlane, joined the band in 2011. The band members are Don Ray – Singer / Songwriter, Will McFarlane - Guitarist & Songwriter / Vocalist, Jonathan Armstrong – Keyboards & Songwriter / Vocalist, Jamie McFarlane - Bass & Vocalist, Justin Holder - Drums & Vocalist.

Their 2009 album release, “On Top Of The Heap”, received a warm welcome by the Outlaw Country, Blues and Southern Rock communities and has consistently stayed on the Roots Music Report radio charts. In January 2010, Blues Underground Network awarded their album “2009 Best USA Blues Album”, “2009 Best Overall Blues Debut Album” and ranked them #2 on the Top 25 Best Worldwide Blues Albums of 2009. In April of 2010, Real Blues Magazine placed their 2009 debut album at the #1 spot on their Top 100 “Must Purchase” Blues chart. In 2011 their Live Concert DVD was voted Best DVD 2011 by Blues Underground Network.

Their 2nd album "Lonesome Rider" was released August 17th, 2010 and premiered on The RMR Blues chart at # 49. Lonesome Rider has stayed on the radio chart for nearly 26 consecutive weeks crossing over the Country, Rock and Blues genres.

Their single, Love Is, recorded with Shaun Murphy from Little Feat and Bob Seger was released 4/12/11 and was submitted for a 2012 Grammy award.

Their 2012 album, Full Throttle, will be released in Spring 2012.
