Doug Howell is a singer-songwriter based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Raised on an apple orchard in mid-Michigan, he went to the University of Michigan, majored in music composition, and got involved in Youth for Christ and other Christian groups. He performed with New Jerusalem for a couple of years, then joined Good News Circle, a traveling evangelistic singing group based in Elgin, Illinois. After traveling the US and recording an album with GNC, Doug left the group and began performing solo. He traveled all over the US, but mainly in the midwest, singing in many college concert halls, coffee houses and churches. He settled in Ann Arbor again in 1979. Around the time the Truth album was released, he began to get more involved in studio writing, arranging and performing. He participated in many TV and radio ads and soundtracks for sporting events, such as the NCAA basketball finals theme. Besides arranging and performing on many custom recording projects, he also composed music for about a dozen children's 'animated storybook' CD-ROMs including Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Lamb Chop Loves Music, and others.
Doug has rereleased his first five albums on CD, and has recently released a new album of favorite Jimmy Webb originals entitled, "Jimmy & Me." All the albums are available at creativemeasures.com, CD Baby, iTunes, Amazon.com and other online venues. He is planning to record more of his music as well as make more of it available through demos, sheet music, instrumental tracks and MIDI files. See creativemeasures.com, for more details.
