Drew is a singer/songwriter from Newborn, Georgia who is best known for his open and honest lyrics, pronounced with a strong Southern accent. He was influenced by so many songwriters and artist but Gram Parsons, Lowell George, Toy Caldwell, JJ Cale and JR Cobb are among his strongest influences. He is intrigued by many up and coming artists as well as those that have stood the test of time. He credits his late Mother, Donnie Sue Malcom Ashe as his greatest influence. Some of Drew's songs can take one to his darker side while others poke fun at the problems life can throw at us. Drew's playing style ranges from traditional flatpicking to fingerstyle blues to alternative styles, with an emphasis on diverse arrangements. He likes what he calls a broken-in sound and feel to music.
"This local alt-country rocker is all set to release “Snake Dokkter,” a collection of his sultry blues work, recorded here in Macon at the Wild Bean Recording Studio. The songs represent a bit of time travel for Ashe, who wrote some of the work as far back as 1982 and some as recently as, well, this year. Here he lends his satirical world view to freshen up a down-home sound that samples from all over the roots rock map." Chris Horne-Macon Telegraph
