BIOGRAPHY
Imagine mixing John Mayer's pop, Bob Dylan's folk, and the vocal clarity of Josh Groban. What you'd have is the refreshing new sound of Canada based singer/songwriter Drew Parker.
Drew’s debut acoustic pop/rock album, “On My Way Home,” was produced by Adrian Morales-Demori at Heiga AudioVisual in Florida, and mastered by six-time Grammy-nominee and Juno-winner Brad Blackwood at Euphonic Masters. It reached the 2009 Grammy Award’s first round, alongside artists such as Neil Diamond and Jakob Dylan.
Press reactions to the album have been overwhelmingly positive, like Chris Carrigan of Canada’s 97.7 the Beach who says it is, “Refreshing, positive, and delightful. Drew Parker turns the downs in life... into ups.” John Eaton of 95.1 The Peak FM says, “It's refreshing to hear an album that relies on great melodies, interesting stories and solid musicianship to get its point across.” And The Epoch Times calls it a “Masterful experience.”
Before starting to promote his album, Drew first helped a cause close to his heart by participating in a North-American concert tour in support of human rights in China. Stopping in New York City, Miami, and Toronto, the tour featured Drew’s single “Mother China,” which he performed with drummer Sterling Campbell from the B-52s. The song tells the story of the Chinese Communist Party’s brutal persecution of Falun Gong, a peaceful exercise practice emphasizing truth, compassion, and tolerance. Drew is also donating all proceeds from the song to efforts to stop the persecution of Falun Gong in China.
Over the past nine years, Drew has traveled the northeastern seaboard performing at venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the White House, and the Toronto Centre for the Arts. He has performed live on Canada’s A-Channel morning talkshow “A Morning”, and his music has been played on radio stations like Canada’s Rock 95 and 95.1 The Peak FM. He opened for the 2009 “Sears National Kids Cancer Ride” fashion show featuring Canadian supermodel Coco Rocha, and has performed at Barrie’s huge Kempenfest festival and Barrie’s New Music Festival. His single “Christine” won the award for “Best Folk” at Barrie’s New Music Awards.
It was the wish to give fans a stellar musical experience with a positive vibe that propelled Drew and his team into creating “On My Way Home.” With the second half of the journey now beginning, expect to see Drew Parker performing live at various venues promoting his new album, “On My Way Home.”
