Duo AttemaHaring is the first ensemble of its kind, dedicating itself to expanding repertoire and opening up possibilities for bass trombone and harp. Their debut album Pioneers is an ode to the pioneers who took the challenge to write the first pieces for this unexplored adventurous combination, bringing a new genre to life. The duo was founded in July 2008 and had their first successful performance at the World Harp Congress in Amsterdam. They performed Figur(1989) by Wolfgang Rihm in an extraordinary combination of four contrabass trombones, harp and percussion. This piece inspired them to ask the renowned Dutch composers Martijn Padding and Chiel Meijering to write new compositions for bass trombone and harp for this special event.
The startling combination of instruments inspired many composers, such as Rodney Sharman, Wim Bex, Bart de Vrees and Guillermo Lago, to write for Duo AttemaHaring and several pieces followed in the past years. Since their start up they booked many successes, bringing them to China, Singapore, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the USA.Their aim is to build intensive work relationships with composers, investigating the possibilities and challenges of the instruments and above all they wish to present this striking versatile combination to the world!
