Earl Clifton is a singer songwriter out of Chesapeake, Virginia. His love for the traditional country music started as early as the 70's with the outlaw movement and all the truck driver movies and TV shows. The United States really seemed to like cowboys back when I was growing up says Earl. My most favorite of the country eras are from the 50's to the early 70's and I love those old novelty tunes and murder ballads that would often spawn on 45's around Halloween time. I hope to record a complete country style Halloween album in the near future with some of the most creepy country songs out there and a few of my own.
Earl's cover songs of Bob Dylan, Leon Payne, Elvis and Hank Williams are becoming staples along with his original songs "Broken Flower" and "Lonely One Way Road". When asked about writers block Earl claims to have it for long periods of time and will often work on covers to pass that time however, when he does write he pens several songs all at once and then he'll be empty for a while. "I'm at a stage now in my life where I'm too old to be hip, and to young to be cool playing the old style but I'm determined to share everything I come up with. Be it a big production or a work tape, my songs might help another writer out of their writers block and there's really no reason to hold on to these songs and let know one hear them".
Earl likes to think of his music with steel guitar so big it could melt your face off if your standing to close to the speakers!
