Eight Armed Killer

BIOGRAPHY

A.J. Hoffman is a former newspaper writer. He currently writes and records his own original material for Eight Armed Killer.

E.A.K. takes it's name from the octopus, the fiercest and most intelligent of all creatures in the oceanic kingdom. Hoffman's extreme local push for original music and label of being a writer above all else, along with the octopus' known dispelling of ink to counter enemies; the association with the dangerous fish seemed only natural.

His most popular disc, "The News," is a commentary on the media and his disassociation with the industry.

Hoffman's trademark statement, "have yourself a day," at the end of each show is an ode to his days as a news reporter where he was completely surrounded by the media, all day, everyday, during the summer or 2008. His living situation even included staying with a newspaper reporter. With the accompaniment of a broken heart, he wrote some of the best material he'd ever written - during one of the most depressing periods of his life.

Eight Armed Killer continues to perform all over the country. He continues to write from his home in Michigan. He will never stop. Comparable athlete: Ty Cobb.

I guess if you want a better autopsy of the music, that makes perfect sense. I think it sounds like all the worst parts of Joy Division, Nirvana, the Talking Heads, Marilyn Manson and some shitty emo band you've probably never heard of before. Mostly, this is a rock 'n' roll record. Now a lot of people have been telling me that rock is dead... Truth is, I don't know any better. I've been doing things the wrong way my whole life. If you really want to know what this sounds like, then lets do it the old fashioned way and just listen to it instead of taking someone else's word for it. Listen to it at home with your Dr. Dre headphones on, listen to it in a crowded sports bar with your ear held close to an iPod, listen to it while having sex, listen to it in the shower, listen to it while you're jogging, listen to it in your car, or while you're walking your dog - I just want to be heard.
