Elmer Atlookan

Elmer Atlookan is a renowned Native American flutist having performed throughout the United States and internationally for the last twelve years. Elmer has had the opportunity during his travels with a non-profit organization to perform for high level officials in different countries, and also numerous Grand Chiefs, Tribal Councils, and Tribal communities during protocol ceremonies and traditional ceremonies with various tribes and nations. He has also enjoyed sharing his music at various events, indigenous social gatherings, schools, colleges, and organizations.

Elmer shares the traditional language of the Anishinaabe people of Eabametoong (Fort Hope) in Ontario, Canada, and he was taught his traditional ways of life by his late Grandfather who he also dedicates a song to on his new album. In fact, this CD is dedicated to his family near and far because he feels it is important that he honors his grandparents, mother and father, brother and sisters, and wife and two daughters. The one thing Elmer wants to encourage you to do when listening to this album is to be thankful for those you consider family. As First Nations People that is what keeps us together, and it is the love that binds us all together no matter the color of our skin.
