Embracing

Biography

EMBRACING formed in 1992 in the small town Holmsund outside of Umeå in the cold northern region of Sweden. With the deep brutal death metal voice of Henrik Nygren, amazing drumskills of Mattias Holmgren and rapid guitarplay of André Nylund and Richard Magnusson the band quickly gained reputation to be a technical phenomenon. Initially the music was influced by early deathmetal like My dying bride, Bolt Thrower, Dismember but later found a more progressive and exploring path with wider inspirations. The drummer of EMBRACING, Mattias Holmgren, also appeared as drummer with NAGLFAR on their debut album "Vittra" in 1995. He has also done many other albums with bands like AZURE, TIRED TREE, DARKSIDE COWBOYS etc. Two albums were released on german label Invasion Records which ripped the band (like all the other bands on Invasion records) thus most of the members of Embracing quit due to lack of interest in the genre and musical direction.
In 1998 Mattias picked up the guitar to write the songs for an upcoming promo RIFT and gathered new members to fill the positions. The band later transformed into a trio with Peter Uvén (April Divine) on bass, Ronnie Björnström (Bonegnawer) and Mattias Holmgren (vocals & drums). Currently Mattias arewriting on a third album with working title "Neptune". Check the webpage www.morningdewmedia.com and www.embracing.se for further info on EMBRACING.
