BIOGRAPHY
Music isn't meant to be made in a vacuum. That is why the songs of Erik Ritland (http://www.erikritland.com) are immersed in the past by channeling legends like Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, Neil Young, and more. He adds to his sound by looking to the future with a distinctive and energetic modern rock sound.
Erik's first band, Floating Bridge, was an alternative band with a rock edge. Their material featured some of Erik's catchiest, most energetic songs and meaningful lyrics. They played shows in some of the most highly regarded venues in the Twin Cities, including the Turf Club, the 400 Bar, the 331 Club, Station 4, and many others.
Recently Erik released his debut EP "Firelight." The title track is the lead single from his first full-length release, "To St. Jude with Desperation," which will be released early in 2013. The ten-song LP emphasizes Erik's folk roots and contains elements of blues, country, and '60s pop/rock. His latest endeavors include his monthly 10-song DEMOS project, the launch of his YouTube channel, and several blogs that are anthologized weekly as The Weekly Ritland.
