Forcentury is a Danish melodic heavy metal band that spans musically through a lot of metal genres with a distinct classic rock twist that makes their sound timeless.
The band is five men strong and consists of the two axe slingers Marc Masters and Jens-Christian “JaCK” Kijne, bass player Kristian “Iver” Iversen, drummer Steve Mason and the Scottish vocalist Johnn Thunder.
It is a motley bunch with a wide array of talents, but the focal point and foundation of the band is the mutual love of heavy metal. The band has quite naturally made it their mission to merge the classic heavy virtues with the modern sound and playing style. Thus, they draw influences from both the standard bearers of the 80s (Iron Maiden, Helloween) and their heirs (Symphony X, Pagan's Mind) and try to assemble the best from both camps.
The band has existed for four years now and from day one a solid work ethic has been the core value – along with great passion for the music that they play. The style is classical heavy metal with elements of power metal, progressive metal as well as thrash, symphonic and classic rock parts. The compositions are complex including twin guitars and soaring keyboards, yet always with a thread running through it and tied together by the distinct classical AOR-sounding, forceful, vibrating vocal of lead singer Johnn Thunder. The lyrics reveal issues such as the flaws of society, state of the world and the imperfection of man. All lyrics and music written by Forcentury!
With the debut album Vanguard (2009) Forcentury inscribed themselves into the Danish metal history books, and the newly released album Revelant (2012) will certainly solidify their position as part of the contemporary Danish metal elite. This century belongs to Forcentury and the band does not hesitate to prophesize:
Heavy metal will save the world!
