Welcome to the Frank Basile 12tet. The group casually opens the door to a sound combining the Big Band with the improvisational freedom of a jazz quartet. 12tet offers us music emphasizing the Post Bop and Fusion traditions. The result offers jazz aficionados and novices the opportunity to enjoy the unique combination of Brass Quintet, Reeds, and Rhythm Section. Most of the members of the ensemble come from jazz backgrounds, having played with such greats as Buddy Rich, Lionel Hampton, Woody Herman, and Horace Silver. The band likes to explore the era that produced the music of such great artists as Miles Davis, Horace Silver, and the fabulous Blue Note recordings of the ‘60s leading to the CTI material of people like Freddie Hubbard and Stanley Turrentine.
Members of the band include: Frank Basile, Gerry Cappuccio, Roy Niclosi - Reeds; Mart Bound and Vinnie Cutro - Trumpet/Flugelhorn; Philip Jones - Trombone; Leeann Newland - French Horn; Steve Carr - Tuba; Bob DeBenedette - Piano; Joe LaBelle - Guitar; Takashi Otsuka - Bass; Rick Visione - Drums
