Frank started playing the piano at the age of twelve. The first pieces he played were composed by Mozart, Bach and some other classical composers.
After one year of studying classical piano with Eli 't Hart and Stephane de May, he met Thijs van Leer in a music store, who later encouraged Frank to start composing his own songs.
In the summer of 2007, he recorded his first demo in Leiden. With that experience, he started to perform at some open mic nights at his high school in Alphen aan den Rijn. He performed solo classical pieces and his own songs in the Netherlands and Belgium, and played with several bands of various styles. Besides that, Frank took up singing lessons given by Trea Kuijsten. Frank then began singing in a gospel choir, where he gained experience and eventually became one of its key soloists.
Upon turning eight-teen, Frank moved to the east of the Netherlands (Arnhem) and decided to get some Jazz, pop and improvising lessons from Robert-Jan Vermeulen and Jeroen van Vliet. Because of this, there is a clear connection between Jazz and Pop in Franks music. He has always had an interest in the cross-overs between these two styles.
In 2012, Frank played at some prominent venues in the Netherlands like the Panama and Luxor Live. He even played some gigs in Italy. In Arnhem, he formed a band with German Bass player, Thomas Fehse, and Dutch drummer, Ruud Voesten. After rehearsing and arranging his songs with the band, Frank met producer/mixing engineer, Raoul Soentken. After recording some demo's at the studio, Frank decided to continue working with Raoul to produce his first album.
In October, Frank and his band recorded the entire album in three days.
The album is called 'Signature' and will be available from January 2013.
