Biography

Frank Zona studied Saxophone and Clarinet under NY Jazz legend, Joe Manzone and University of Illinois Woodwind Professor, Dr. Ralph Athey. Frank has performed in various Jazz, Rock, Funk and Blues groups in New York, Illinois, Texas, Las Vegas and New Mexico. Frank has performed in opening acts for International stars such as The Grass Roots, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and James Brown. One of Franks' notable recording sessions was on Dorothy Ellis' Indie Blues release of "Bad Prospects". In 2008 Frank shared the stage with Jazz icons Dave Koz, Jeff Koz, Candy Dulfer, Najee, Richard Elliot, and Brian Simpson. Frank's current group, Urban Edge plays a mix of Smooth, Contemporary Jazz with a solid R&B feel. The group plays the top venues in the West Texas and Southern New Mexico region winning critical acclaim from The Jazz El Paso Connection website.
