Gender Benders was officially founded in July, 2010 in Austin, Texas by DJ Gayburn and C-Mack. Both artists hail from the podunk town of Walkersville, Maryland where they first met in Middle School at the tender of age of 13. After being inseparable up through High School, C-Mack went on to Tisch School of the Arts at NYU before reconvening with DJ Gayburn in Austin.
DJ Gayburns' long standing passion for rapping and music production inspired C-Mack to co-create a comedic uptempo ballad inspired by her pussy (cat) titled "Brand New", in which, boredom transformed into genius chemistry. After receiving legitimate praise for being more than just comic relief, what began as a joke had flourished into a full-fledged hip-hop duo whose level of talent far outweighs any novelty. Soon followed, Tranny Stomp. This electro-dancefloor smash hit planted the seed for what would soon would be, Dirty Disco.
Gender Benders believe that music has no definitive factors such as race, gender and/or religion, constantly pushing boundaries and thus proving that music doesn't have to fit inside a box. They continue to be inspired daily by anything sexy: women, men, drag queens, hipsters, lesbians that look like Justin Bieber, hungry, hungry hobos, gingers, leather daddies, DJ's and even cats.
