Genre Peak is the electronic-rock-trance and experimental music of Martin Birke. His collaborations for Genre Peak have included Mick Karn, Christopher Scott Cooper, Tara C. Taylor, Gustaf Fjelstrom, Percy Howard, Benito Cortez, Daniel Panasenko and Stephen Sullivan. The project has produced 2 full-length albums "Ends of the Earth" (2006 in-code Music) and "Preternatural" (2008 in-code Music) . In 2011 Martin formed the trip-hop band Hardboiled Wonderland with singer Percy Howard , their debut "As Small as a World and Large as Alone" was released worldwide by Gonzo Multi Media UK. In 2012 Martin returns to Genre Peak for the album "Redux" also released by Gonzo Multi Media UK.
Martin is also the electronic percussionist for the improv band "Know Hassell Project", a live band that's inspired by the 4th World music of Jon Hassell.
Martin Birke's original compositions began getting nationally published in 1990. His history as a drummer, keyboardist, programmer, songwriter and vocalist is in a current variety of US & European releases.
While with the Frank Mark Arts label in Germany during the mid to late 90's, Martin was recording & touring in the bands Casualty Park, Sandbox Trio
and studio project Birke / Leykam / Panasenko.
He has also done several releases with such labels as Cyberdelia-Records, Matchbox Recording UK, Arts-Industria, Priority Records , Ladd-Frith Records and The Music Independant. Along with various radio work international performances , he has done commissioned scores for The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, The Oxygen Cable Network, and Lions Gate Films ("Blood,Guts,Bullets and Octane", "Retribution"). He has also co-scored 2 films in collaboration with sandbox trio: Animals and Heartbeat. With Genre Peak , Martin Birke and his fellow collaborators bring a unique sound to dark electronic, trance and rock compositions .
