Ok, I'm not doing this in the third person. I started playing music at age 8 on clarinet, played in the school band system in Waukegan, Illinois, joined a rock group in High School, playing the sax. Got interested in jazz, studied for 3 years at North Texas State, finished my music degree at San DIego State. Studied with the bop great Charles McPherson there.
Played in jazz, rock, country any bands in Illinois, and Southern California, including The New Tuxedo Jazz Band, King Biscuit Blues, the Nomads, Thunderbolt the Wondercolt. In mid 80's started working with MIdi and synthesizers. Have jammed with many great people, recently working with vocalists Niclolette Holman, Ellen Johnson, Ann Pedersen, Laura Creamer, jazzers Edmund Velasco, some rock with the Joint Chiefs,
Lots of influences, but I probably don't sound like any of them. I listened to Stanley Turrentine, Dexter Gordon, Tom Scott, David Sanborn, Bird, Trane, Joe Farrell, Michael Brecker. Production and composition I am influenced by jazz fusion like Weather Report, electronics by Shinichi Osawa and The Hotel Costes type lounge music.
Currently I write and produce and perform in Southern California.
